For the past nine years, Adly has been making it his business to document, champion and unearth new Malaysian talent through his work as a music critic for TONE Magazine and The Malay Mail, as a jury for Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM), and now as the programme manager for radio station XFM. Raising the standards of Malaysian music, be it industry standards or the quality of the music itself, is high on his list of priorities. Adly is now working on repositioning XFM as the hotbed for fresh Malaysian music, with a strong emphasis on music made by independent artistes.

He has performed at festivals and venues in countries around the region and internationally such as Australia and Japan. He is a co-founder of the Experimental Musicians and Artists Co-operative Malaysia and a co-artistic director of Troubadours Enterprise, organisers of the annual Malaysian singer-songwriter showcase KL Sing Song, now in its fifth year.
